9. [ Bluebird ]
@
In the play of the Belgian dramatist, Maurice Maeterlinck, a brother and sister searched around the world to find the "Bluebird" which was said to bring us happiness. But they came back home in sorrow without having found it. But when they entered the house, they found out the Bluebird singing.
Like this play, you won't be able to find the "Bluebird" anywhere "outside of the house". Because "Bluebirds (happiness)" can only exist "inside your house (your mind)".
We can't tell by looking from the outside, whether "a person who seems very happy" is really happy or not. It can be known only by the person herself. The person might be possibly thinking that "Every person says to me ""I envy you because you are happy!"", but as a matter of fact, I have so many worries!".
On the other hand, "the person who seems unblessed and unhappy" from the outside, is not invariably thinking that he himself is unhappy.
It is possible enough that the person is thinking "Every person may think I am poor, but I'm satisfied with these circumstances, and I'm happy enough. How many of you who pity me, are realizing happiness?"
If you are thinking like this,
"If I was ......, I could have been happy" "If I am ......, I will be able to be happy", and only fancying the past and the future which is not certain to be realized, and not living this moment now with happy and cheerful feelings, you are possibly searching for the "Bluebird" "outside the house".
If you are such a person, please practice feeling the "feelings of happiness" bit by bit, using the method I've been talking about. It is not necessarily possible to have happy and cheerful feelings all the time right away, but it is possible to elongate the "time when you feel happiness" gradually. Please try!
