8. [ Ignoring problems and negative emotions ]

If the problem which comes to your mind is judged a "problem which you need to think about" from the two types of problems which were stated before, it is useful to "think" thoroughly calmly and rationally without negative emotions until a certain conclusion is obtained.(Never "worry"!) And once the conclusion is obtained, you only have to act calmly according to the conclusion.
But in the case of a problem which you know is a "problem which doesn't benefit you at all by thinking of it"(a problem that can never be solved no matter how much you think of it), all you can get by worrying about the problem with negative emotions like anxiety, agony, sorrow etc. is to satisfy the "desire to steep yourself in anxiety" or "desire to suffer".

Except for that, it doesn't benefit your life at all, and only makes disease or worsens it, and makes the state of life still worse.@

But, at the point when a certain "problem which doesn't benefit you at all by thinking of it" comes to your mind by chance, and you notice yourself making negative emotions for your own convenience, you should do the following.
First of all, you should neglect and don't think about the problem or negative emotions, but rather think about pleasant things such as thinking about pleasant plans, watching your favorite programs, or reading your favorite books or magazines. Then the problem doesn't become the material for your anxiety for the time being.
In short, you ought to experience, though it may be for a short time, living happily enough although you have problems.

With problems, it is sometimes necessary to think calmly and rationally, without negative emotions, about the method for solving it.
But regardless of the fact that you know the problem is a "problem which doesn't benefit you at all by thinking of it", if you start thinking with negative emotions like anxiety, worry, sorrow etc..... I want you to understand that it is just like sprinkling gasoline over smoldering leaves.
Like smoldering leaves that are extinguished if they are left alone, if you dare to neglect both "problems which don't benefit you at all by thinking of them" which exist outside of you in fact, and "negative emotions" about to be made by them, negative emotions will disappear naturally. You don't have to sprinkle gasoline over smoldering leaves at all.

However, you may experience something like the following. One problem or negative feeling comes to your mind, and you ignore it, and it goes away. But, the same problem or another one soon comes to your mind with negative emotions. In that case, simply neglect them. Leave the smoldering leaves alone. Never sprinkle gasoline over them.
By repeating these efforts, you will gradually come to understand well, that the problems and anxiety, problems and worry, and problems and sorrow are totally different matters, and can exist without negative thinking. Taking the extreme case, it is possible to stay calm all the time, even if you are forced to be burdened with all the problems in the world.
Of course, when you want to enjoy things with positive emotions, you should enjoy them fully. The most important matter is to form a habit never to pay attention to negative emotions, and to neglect them.

In this way, if you form a habit not to worry, nor be anxious, nor suffer, nor feel sad, and live cheerfully, happily and positively, the state of the autonomic nervous system, endocrine system, and immunological system etc. become better as I mentioned before.
As a result, at the same time you will get in good physical condition, you will find that you are feeling "feelings of happiness" or "feelings of relaxation". It may be understood well if you imagine happy feelings, just like feelings when you are having pleasant talk, or when you are doing your favorite things.
Of course, the time when you are feeling "feelings of happiness", might be fairly short. But, once you get the knack, you can extend the time, and eventually it is possible that you will have "feelings of happiness" or "feelings of relaxation" all the time.
